I get the point totally PT, regarding Jordy and his size, and you could probably add Bachelor in that same category. But then doesn't that take you to the old adage, that physique wise a young rugby league forward doesn't normally mature up until their mid 20's anyway.

I was talking with an ex Wakefield player of the 70's and early 80's yesterday, Paul McDermott, who played quite a bit at 13, but wasn't the biggest, and he was saying just the same.

Paul MC is a perfect example.
He always had the skills but was nudged out by big lads earlier in his career.
He was one of my favourites back then.

It's a sad fact that sized does matter in Rugby League these days. It goes against someone like Annakin who has a heart appropriate to a WWE size player but can't always match it against the big lads.
Crowther I feel isn't quite like that. He's actually quite a big lad and has a big heart too. I think with age he will fill out more and also grow his technique because of it. In my opinion he will make a very good super league player, he just isn't the complete package yet.

Nice bloke too.

He's helped my lad develop his rugby league facebook page, and gain a better profile, not to mention the tag rugby side he has just put together for "Euro Tag"

I look back to Richard slater who played for us many moons ago and reminds me very much of Crowther, Fantastic club man and could play well above his weight because he had the heart of a lion.
Weight is a great advantage only if you have the desire to use it

Indeed. It only really matters at International level imo where every aspect matters, at SL level it would help but you can get by.

If Crowther had England/Hirst's size he'd probably be a world beater. Good hands and makes a lot of tackles, does get dominated at times when taking settlers in but I don't really consider that to be his role in the team.

Haven't people said this time and time again about little guys. Remember everyone saying if you could put Billy Conway's heart in Andy Kelly,s body ... etc

That's partly the mentality of the little guy that makes it in a big guy sport. Plenty of little guys have no heart.
When you get a big guy who is a competitor you get an Andy Farrell.
Kelly did ok for himself and if he'd been more aggressive would probably have lost something else.
It's the way it is.

As a Salfrd fan (here in peace) I agree - don`t think he figures in Watsons plans but I agree he could be useful in the second row.

Makes sense now to make the loan swap for good!

Most players move on ,think we got five or more years out of him before he moved on ,but more importantly not only his tackling technique but his heart would put most of our team to shame at the moment .Yes we are lacking grunt up front which is understandable with the injuries but our defence is laughable, too many players grabbing and not getting stuck in ,hasting should have been snapped in two when running through us at Will on Sunday.Until we get our players bending the opposition in the tackle we will always be up against it .
