No fatties in Origin : Fri Jul 19, 2019 10:28 pm
I have finally got round to watching the State of Origin decider. One thing that strikes me as an irregular watcher of Australian RL is that there is not much body fat on any of the players. They look fit. When you look at a lot of British RL players, including our antipodean imports, this is not the case. Many or our SL players, for me are carrying too much fat. It may give you power in certain situations but it does not give you endurance and cardiovascular fitness. Look how slowly some of our forwards get back to take the ball out from kicks on the 6th. Big Dave somehow seems to buck the trend but I suspect even he would do better to lose some of the chub.

Nah a lot of Aussie forwards carry fat, whatever our problem is that’s not it.

Want to play is the key there. Don’t need to be super fit in SL though it would help.

My issue though is we are losing in the first 20 minutes when no team even ours should be fatigued, don’t you agree?

Bench other night fafita wood Pauli Annakin, i honestly think we need to put the biggest pack out we can and try to get a foothold in the game and introduce the bench one at a time can’t see point in leaving Pauli and Dave on bench to come on when we’ve been blown away. Also Brough is getting picked as soon as the opposition get on a roll it’s just go at him with pace and they go through him, maybe if we’re gonna play him bring him on 2nd half or hide him on wing in defence. The lad has been a damn good player but his legs have gone imo it’s not a disgrace it’s just getting older time has caught up.

Players like brough and wood and miller get targeted as part of a game plan to knacker them out tackling so they are less affective in attack ,which judging by recent performances is working a treat .Our game plan should be to counter and protect our halfs as much as possible ,easier said than done I know, but it stifles any attacking play we have when they are constantly being hammered .
