So, Next Years Team, Whats it Looking Like : Sat Sep 14, 2019 4:35 pm
Rumours of various players coming, some loaned players we’d like to keep, some signings already done, whose staying, whose going and who may not return from injury?

Will Jowitt stay
Will Hampshire stay
Will Kirmond retire
Will England retire
Will Johnstone be the same after a 2nd knee recon
Will Green stay
Will Tanginoa go to another club?
Have we signed Westerman
Have we signed Pitts
If the above 3 signed, what next for Batch, Jordy?
Have we signed Walker
Tangata?

Lots to sort out before the end of January
Trinity could look very different next year

Any guesses on how we might line up 1 to 17

I do wonder about second row.

Ashurst and Tanginoa are both outstanding but both play on the left.
If Kirmond retires it means we only have Batch for the right and I don't think he is ready to take the season on as starting Sr.
Arundal I don't think is the answer yet either.

So I'm wondering if we are thinking about playing Westerman down that channel so Arona and Crowther and possibly King are left to do 13.

Id certainly sign Tangata and I think we'd be a good option for him.
Green I like a lot but he has options so it depends if he wants to.

Walker, Escare and Hampshire are all options. Depends who signed first.

How do we stand with quota spots is it two free now with the departures of Randell and Pauli?

If we’ve signed Walker I’d retain Rocky too and Jowitt and I think the backs are fine with plenty of cover...

Walker/Hampshire/Jowitt full backs..

Johnstone/BJB/Kershaw wing with options of Hampshire/Tupou/Lyne to cover if necessary.

Tupou/Lyne/Atkins/Arundel/Croft more than adequate in centres...

Miller/Brough halves with possibly only Hampshire as cover there could be risky?

Pack is where we need to strengthen IMO...as shown in our slump if your pack gets dominated your backs all of a sudden look poor too...we started the season well with a big strong pack that looked big and fearsome and would back down to no team.

Going into next season we’ve lost Huby, Hirst, Pauli from this and possibly England and Kirmond..

That’s plenty of size and experience lost...if finances allow I’d push the boat out for another prop and a second rower from overseas...

I don’t think we need to make too many drastic changes...just get the right mix and hope and pray we don’t suffer injuries like we have this year!

The one player I hope is signed for next year and beyond has to be Ryan Hampshire. I don't know the politics behind the scenes regarding a contract, I don't know if his face fits with the players and staff or coach but I do know he always gives his all for Wakefield Trinity. He is young with plenty of experience, he's played in every game this season and knows where the try line is, he can play in any position from 1 to 7 and would probably play in the forwards if picked and he can also kick goals. I watched the game again on Sky on Saturday morning and the one thing I noticed watching it on tv was that Ryan Hampshire was involved all over the pitch. I feel if Ryan does leave it will be our loss and someone else's gain.

Completely agree about Hampshire. Good player, utility value and loves the club.

Think that's why we offered him a deal. He chose not to accept for whatever reason.. Hope he signs personally but the club is bigger than the player

That's a shame but it might do him good. He'll get more specialised coaching if he can find a good club. Hope he comes back a top half back.

Would obviously prefer him to say, but rather Oz than one of our SL competitors.
