I'm in 2 minds on this. He's a good player. I've enjoyed watching him and his commitment and effort throughout the season even though he knew his future was in doubt speaks volumes about his character.

But on the other side of the coin the annual "will he, won't he" saga is a bit of a bore and probably says an equal amount about his character

I’m a bit confused, all this has being in the papers there isn’t anything to hide, it’s black and white

Several months ago Ryan was offered a contract
He thought he was worth more so didn’t sign it, MC publically statedd he wouldn’t be offered more money and there was a deadline on the contract

Im backing MC and his conduct 100% here

Please don't do that.
It would be against the AUP to give details personal to someone else.
Even if it's yours to give.

It's quite clear that some people here have connections to the Hampshire camp and have swallowed every line they've been fed from that way. The simple fact is the club offered a contract and it was not accepted and the club did not want to offer a contract it felt it could not out of its own financial constraints. I'd imagine Ryan and his side feel badly done to with regards to the announcement, I'd imagine the club thought it obvious to Ryan that if he doesn't sign the offered contract then he is obviously out of contract and this means leaving the club. What did Ryan expect? The whole situation strikes me as revolving around Ryan Hampshire's ego. Not to mention he has history with this stuff and going on about the media about what he has done for the club while other players just quietly get on with their business.

At the end of the day Michael Carter will do what he thinks is best for Wakefield Trinity and it is good enough for me. If Ryan Hamoshire thinks he can get more elsewhere he is entitled to attempt this but I'm failing to see what Michael has done wrong in this instance. Michael Carter isn't the one who has ever played this saga out in public - Ryan Hampshire is by banging on about why he thinks he deserves more e.t.c.

Exactly how I see it Adam

Last year before he signed it was all the same with Ryan,

Good player but we don’t need this type of hassle and we can’t afford to pay what he wants

For the lads sake this doesn't need to be played out in public, regardless of who started it. Hampshire is a good player and will get another club, perhaps even for the value that he and his agent have in mind.

I'm with M C on this one , about 8 weeks ago he came on this site and said ,if Hampshires agent was up for it he would let the facts of the deal go public from both sides .One of the Brothers who plays for The Rabbitos in ozz is signing for Wigan next year and Wigan are one and a quarter million pound in det. How the other half live.

Of course it can be done, but Fifita is an integral part of the team so can command that negotiation. For all that I would like Hampshire to have been retained, he's not at that level just yet, at least in the eyes of the people who are offering the contract. The club made an offer, gave a deadline, it wasn't accepted. End of story for me. As I said before. Ryan Hampshire will get another club easily so come next year he will be playing his game and can forget about perceived injustices here. No point looking back, it only eats up at you when you can be concentrating on the future and the opportunities that will bring.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

DF is a better player and worth fighting to keep. Let's not forget that he was in serious contention for Man of Steel this year until he got injured. Was Hampshire?
