All good stuff IMHO though Boxing can be a contentious issue with some.

Boxing is a great fitness regime for rugby, I’m surprised most clubs don’t do it, or do they

Been past it a few times since it opened 6 months or ago and wondered if it had bee opened by a fan of the Club, or just used Wakefield's connection to the word Trinity, like the shopping Centre.

IMO it's great to see the Club getting involved and joining up with them. Getting young kids boxing, or even just in the gym (or into any sport), to have some fun can have a great effect on their lives. From the point of just getting them off the streets, to exercising, to personal development, self discipline and the structure it can have. Especially in working class & poorer areas, where there isn't much for young kids to do at all and there's loads of kids full of energy dieing for something to get into and be a part of. Much like RL can do for kids, so can combat sports.

I've seem it personally, from when I stared martial arts as a kid and then into adulthood training them, what a difference it can to even the most shy timid kid confidence wise, it can bring them totally out of their shells and makes them realise what they're capable of, which then can have such a positive knock on effect to all other areas of their lives.

I know a fair few lads that went to White Rose boxing Club back in the day and it turned many of them from straight up menaces to society, to becoming obsessed with the sport, spending all their free time Boxing, getting fit, which led them onto the amateur boxing scene and it in many cases totally turned them around as human beings.

Never understood why two blokes beating the hell out of each other outside Wakefield bus station on a night in front of their mates gets locked up, but two blokes belting the hell out of each other in front of 10,000 strangers gets a fancy belt and thousands of pounds.

Summats not quite reyt theer!!!! :ASK: :ASK:

No difference than 26 blokes/women knocking seven bells out of each other in front of thousands of people, usually urging them on.just a thought.

If you don't know difference between 2 probably drunk, completely untrained men, fighting over nothing at top of Westgate, where there's no medical help, no officials, no one probably agreed to the fight, it just happened etc etc etc, I honestly don't know what to say mate. There's plenty of sports I don't enjoy but I understand they're sports and everyone's different and like a lot of different things, not sure why some people don't understand combat sports

It's the same as when people have asked me, how can I watch a game were huge blokes just constantly seem to run at each other full speed at each other and try to take each others heads off. Like I say to them, if you don't understand the game, the nuances, the skill , the thousands of hours of training and the sacrifices it actually takes to become the best of the best, I can't help you.

ATEOTD this topic is about getting kids and people off their bums, into a gym, to see if they can get into and enjoy the training, the exercise & maybe enjoy punching the heavy bag, or if they take to it, sparring in a ring under the watchful eye of trainers.

Not quite Dunk.
The object of one is to deliberately put the opponent into a state of unconsiousness and do deliberate damage; the other is to score more points than the other. Which one's which I don't know. Ask Shaun Wayne.
