I suppose the good news is that Botica was a winger at first before going to 6. I just felt that French didnt seem to be able to even find a clean pass when he filled in there. At least hes got a former half back as coach so that should work in his favour.

And for only the second time we find something we can agree on!

I’m one of those who called for French to be given a run of games at 6. My rationale is that I still see Powell as our weak link when we’re in possession. The speed of French, coupled with his footwork makes him a very dangerous player and one who needs to have his hands on the ball as often as possible. With Hastings pulling the strings and guiding us around the park, French can be given the freedom to play what’s in front of him within a more attacking structure. French’s speed will naturally hold players in the middle so Hastings will also have the option to go out the back to launch Hardaker an co. On the back of a bigger, stronger pack, he could have a field day running at tiring, retreating defences. Time will tell but I’m looking forward to seeing how he goes, if indeed squad numbers mean anything.

I was hoping that Warriors fans would have made the starting lineup this year. Obvious that Lam is as blinkered as Madge and Wane were.

You just have to read the expert opinion on here to realise we have something to offer

Lam OOOUT!!

Botica was an All Blacks fly half so the move to league stand off was not that much of a gamble or unexpected.

I think the key to French playing stand off is how well he can play with Hastings,in my opinion they need to play together in at least 2 pre season games with Tommy starting on the bench

I’m hoping we’ll play a friendly or two more than usual this off season. We’ve got players in key positions to bed in and we’ve got enough depth to be able to rotate players around over 3 or 4 first team fixtures, rather than the usual 1 or 2.

Botica was put on the wing to learn the game as Monie didn't actually want him. Was thought he would be less harmful there than anywhere. IIRC Edwards also started out on the wing for a bit. Game has moved on no doubt, be interesting to see how French gets on and where he plays. Still plenty in the squad who I simply can't see where they fit.

IIRC, Monie had Phil Blake lined up who was ready made for the job and didnt think we needed to take a risk on Botica. Luckily it worked out well and Botica was not only a great goal kicker but also turned out to be a great half back.

Anyone know if Nathaniel Marshall and Ben Kilner are still with the club? Not heard that they’ve moved on anywhere

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

Kilner has had a few mentions on Wigan t.v by Lam and Clubb. I think Nathaniel Marshall will be given a chance at reserve level, but after two acl knee reconstructions it'll be a tough decision for him and the club. He was at most academy games in 2019.
