Wire Website - Are we nearly there yet ? : Sat Jan 04, 2020 5:28 pm
It's a little over 3 weeks to the start of the season, a bit less if you include the friendlies, and yet our website is woefully out of date. We have no squads yet for the U19's, U16's, Reserves. The first team squad has been announced, but the 2019 squad is still up there. Commercial information still displays the 2019 kit sponsor and the Twitter feed at the bottom of the page is two months out of date. Has anybody checked to see if our website manager has perhaps passed away at his desk without anyone noticing ?

You would expect a bit of a build up publicity, a big countdown clock or something. Even just titbits and teasers.
Perhaps as you say, the person in charge has gone home never to return

KF is too busy sending Gelling and Wolfie out and about together in prep for the upcoming season.

The club announced we’re now on TikTok the other day (whatever that is?) So it must be coming soon.

Nor was the Widnes xmas present rubbish. We do all the brilliant PDRL, LDRL and community stuff and that ruin it with all that sort of twitter bellendery that we should be better than.

Yes I had actually been impressed by a lot of the club's twitter content recently. The twitter profile is colourful, memorable and they are tweeting about past greats and celebrating the club's history which is all good stuff.

Then you see that stupid thing with Wolfie and his love actually cards saying we're sorry Hull no more wind ups and memes until 2020. Does anybody find this crap funny outside Karl Fitzpatrick? I wonder if the club's social media team privately cringe when he encourages them to do it.

This kind of nonsense is a no win for us. If we end up being crap, and we're trying to wind teams up and then they beat us, we become the joke of the league. If we go on to win the Grand Final, then we are going to be graceless winners. Can you imagine the kind of inane windups KF would be doing on teams if we won SL? He's like the knob that goes on another team's internet forum to bait their fans.

Just cut the stupid wind ups out and the social media presence looks pretty impressive.

Does it indicate our priorities? On point with social media windups amd content but failing to bother to update the website with our sporting achievements. Almost like the sporting performance and record is of secondary importance to the entertainment package.

Exactly - club management slipping in to comfort zone of something they feel they can package as a 'success' when they know deep down they aren't going to be real winners on the field.

KF will probably do plenty of media interviews spreading the word on how the Wolves social media is world leading and we are building a great brand, any disappointment in results on the field can be explained away by the usual formula of acknowledging that we 'need to do better' and talking about how 'ambitious' he is for the future....rinse and repeat 2021
