born in airlie str,1939.german landmine that fell on boulevard, also blew up half of our house.thats why i dont like germans.not because they blew our house and boulevard up,but because the gerry pillock was aiming for craven park.

I thought the refs were told to make sure the ptb was done correctly this season ,using the foot to ptb instead of striding over it.watched the game last night, and it looks as though ref kendall wasn't told.the amount of ptb were the the player just didn't bother to use the foot was ridiculous.a few of the players did ptb correctly.what is the point of bringing out a rule,if its not being adhered too

My thoughts exactly. There was also an incident when a Wigan player had rolled backwards out of the ruck and Wire player just rolled the ball at speed into him gaining a penalty. Nothings changed. Gelling was penalised for not standing at the play the ball even though he had gained his feet and played the ball correctly

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

The proposal, which was unanimously accepted, stresses the responsibility of the tackled player “to maintain balance and control and make a genuine attempt to make contact on the ball with the foot”.
It is also the tackled player’s responsibility to place the ball on the ground at their feet and not on a defender – and a failure to fulfil any of those requirements (balance, control, placing the ball on the ground and making a genuine attempt to play it with the foot) will be ruled a lost ball (not a penalty), leading to a scrum.

i saw at least three occasions were neither foot left the ground and the player just rolled the ball through his legs, i'm sure one was even rolled down the outside of his planted foot.

Kendall was useless, but the coaches are at fault, Wigan very much still resemble the spoling tactics that Wane encouraged.

The annoying thing (as Clarke mentioned last night, but didn't mention once in the Wigan game) is consistency, was given once or twice, but not all game.

Two 80 year olds on the same club thread Yorkie- must be some kind of record!

Think the refs have given up on the rule already but the solution was there last night. Welsby was penalised early on for just rolling it through his legs and thereafter played it to the book when he was tackled.

Big problem with part of the rule is "make a genuine attempt to play the ball back with the foot" so difficult for the ref to determine whether it is genuine or not, so rolling it through the legs and waving a foot is the norm. I would prefer for the rule to include " after placing the ball on the ground the ball MUST be played back with the foot".

As Welsby illustrated when you have been penalised you make sure it is done correctly thereafter.
