Cas stadium - sound familiar? : Wed Feb 19, 2020 3:55 pm

Still no advancements on the Cas stadium, coincidence or yet more 'incompetence' by our Council?

We don’t seem to be any further with our redevelopment even after the “good news in the next month “ announcement by our CEO, after the London, last game of last season. I know the announcement was tied to the planning application by Yorkcourt for their own development at Newmarket, but at the moment it seems like, no news, is bad news, Just like our unfortunate friends over the common.

Holding onto the hope that the club just aren't releasing any more info now until it's concrete. But if I was a betting man, I'd say we'll be put into a predicament of ground-share or nothing. Then it'll all start all over again.

Well that was bound to happen, why is anyone remotely surprised?

Yorkcourt have shown you can get away with murder so why would any property developer bother anymore?

WMDC have set a precedent and tbh the Cas scheme had even less guarantees than ours and we saw how little that meant.

Hmm sadly so, although in Lateral's case I think it's because the booty has fallen out of retail rather than outright skulduggery.

From our perspective, it would be nice to hear the current situation from JM. For example when do they anticipate the planning app from Yorkcourt will be submitted. The reasons YC gave last year have now gone, I work for a developer and plenty of applications are now going in. In my view we are still being played by them. How much funding can we get without irrespective of Mackie and Co?

Are YorkCourt still in the picture? I thought they'd pretty much got what they want i.e. all the land for themselves, now attentions have turned to redeveloping BV and we were seeking to find funding elsewhere? I wouldn't be waiting on them for anything (nor the Council) but I presume we don't have many other options

I believe that the current planning applications from both Trinity and Yorkcourt are connected. I think some funding from Yorkcourt is dependant on them getting their application passed, but their own plans for Newmarket May now have changed due to HS2 getting the green light, as I believe the track will pass through some of the development land at Newmarket. It’s just hearsay and speculation I know, but it’s all we have at the moment.

If we are now waiting on if HS2 is going near Newmarket think a lot of us could be dead .Bilding of HS2 will not start in Yorkshire till 2035 , Was said last week when the HS2 was given the green light

Forgot HS2 may infringe on the site. Another convenient excuse for them to contribute absolutely nothing to the stadium, I imagine.

EVENTUALLY, WE'LL WIN SOMETHING, ,MAYBE, IF I'M STILL ALIVE THEN

Re: Cas stadium - sound familiar? : Thu Feb 20, 2020 11:40 am
I think the Cas situation is completely different. Their stadium is contingent on the shopping centre getting built, and doubts are starting about whether it will happen. In our case, Newmarket was ACTUALLY built and we got mugged.

I'm not sure I entirely agree with the view that the retail sector is hampering things. Retail habits have changed, but you get the impression that it has hit the high street more than out of town retail parks, although I'm no expert. The issue might have been more to do with securing finance because of Brexit uncertainty.

But then again, I'm only guessing.
