It's "Child" FFS.
Always amazes me how many times RL fans can get this refs name wrong and also criticise him for his error s on the pitch.
He is not the reason we lost last night, he's not even responsible for a single point scored against us. Yeah a couple of decissions were a bit baffling, however that wasn't exclusively against Wakefield.
Even in the first half when we were the better team we still gifted Cas points on the back of double errors And penalties. The second half we were just mindless. You can't win a game against most teams if you spend 20 minutes a man down, how can we go from a 94% completion rate in the fist half to a 60% one and expect anything other than not scoring a try and losing the game.
Discipline seems to be the thing that has done us over the last couple of years, we should get onour game rather than trying to play the ref, other teams are experts at it, we are not.

Your right in stating that the ref didn’t cost us the game that’s just the old excuses again after an inept performance in the second half .Must add that I had my doubts over the signing of the journey man Westerman ,but so far he has impressed me with his work ethics ,and you could see the frustration on his face when at times he looked like he was on his own attacking Cas .

It's too easy to blame the ref. The Batch decision was a 50/50 call I guess and whilst I thought it was harsh i'm biased so I would wouldn't I. Other than that he was pretty consistent for both teams. What I would say is I really don't like his officiating in general and it was the same last night, he can't keep the whistle out of his gob often for the most innocuous offences and he backs himself into a corner early in the game with really fussy decisions that he then has to stick to all game to be consistent; so all that happens is there are loads of back to back penalties that piggy back teams up field and lead to points. It always becomes about him. There ends up with no flow to the game and it's stop start.

Not the refs fault we lost but he never played the offside rule. Sky pundits comment ' Cas are getting up in Wakefields Faces' or words to that effect.

A bit unlucky ??

Cas were guilty of plenty of head shot and laying on in the tackle but, apparently it's within the rules if you are wearing anything orange.
He caned us in the penalty count first half but, with Trinity going in at HT with a slender lead, he made sure that Cas won the game.

The Batch sin binning changed the game.

To try and give a penalty try, after being conned for an obstruction call, tells you everything you need to know about Child.

It's actually annoying that in the last 10 minutes he was desperately trying to even up the count and a couple of calls in Wakefield's favour should not have been given.

Cant remember which player it was but there was a Cas PTB and your player was facing the main stand when he played the ball and yet Trinity were penalised for offside.

Is anyone complaining about the forward pass for Westerman’s try or are we only highlighting decisions that went against us?

As a neutral and wanting a good game, I thought that Childs stuck his oar in and changed the game.
As I saw it the Wakey player did not pull the Cas player back, he backed into him.
Was that a professional foul?
It looked clumsy to innocuous to me.
Penalty ...
But because Childs gave a penalty try and was overturned he went for the next best thing, a sin binning, which turned out to be 2 tries instead of 1.
What's the guy supposed to do?
Turn into a cardboard cutout and stand rock still?
No need for that level of sanction in a tight game.

This. Child's should be penalised for that refereeing display and referee at Championship level next week. He ruined what was a very tight game at the time.
