Dons vs Barrow Raiders 1st March 2020 @ 3:00pm : Mon Feb 24, 2020 9:29 am
Right, here we go, my ticket is waiting at the ticket office, I booked it long before Sunday's shoite at Worky.

Time to man up and show what we can do ...shuffling along with the Boyle boys one more time just will not convince.

Barrow have got themselves a number of local lads and seem to be doing OK thus far.
They performed well at Fev, losing by 2 points, although I suspect that the game was wind altered much the same as I suspect ours at Worky was.

So a good test to be had next Sunday, a test for me not so much of can we win because we most certainly can since we have some good players. More a test of whether RH really does know what he is doing. He seems to get off quite light as I see it since we are always there or there abouts.

I am interested in performances and results, I really am not interested in predictions or whether the lads have gone well in training, or whether we are hoping to finish top, or hoping to be in the mix at the end of the season, or if player Z is fitting in at Doncaster and really loving the vibe and buying into the dream.
Hogwash!

Get them forwards working hard and with a system and lets chalk up some wins and if not get rid of what is not up to scratch, and that starts with players that don't do it and ends with the coach if he doesn't do it.

All very premature, I hear you say, let's see what happens first.
True ...but we have had a wretched start and I would like to be convinced.

Roll on Sunday ...

Hi Weighman , my son and myself went to the game and our performance wasn't great , the conditions made it hard, but its the same for both teams.

Workington played the conditions and got the result.

How Spiers and Boyle are our starting props is beyond me , I commented to my lad at the end of last season that they both needed to be released and he agreed , I was amazed when they were announced as being retained as along with most fans i don't see what they bring to the table.

They don't carry the ball hard into contact like Peltier and are easily dominated by defences and Spiers has twice spent time in the bin putting us under pressure.
We have the backs to win this division but I fear our pack is weak and will be our undoing

Not going to criticise individuals made too many mistakes in the past.

I will say we do miss England he offers a bit more flare.

I don't usually comment on individual players but Spiers for me has been a liability in our first two games.

I expect it will be tough, they are not the favourites for promotion for nothing. As for any other comments regarding the game, they can wait until Sunday evening.

It was the second part that got my goat ....
As for the first part, If you read my posts on my speculating that the wind could make the second half difficult for the Dons, you'd know the answer ...which you did.
I meant the result was shoite ...thought that was obvious.

Although it was beyond our control, as soon as we lost Frankie Mariano, exactly the kind of forward we need, we were in bother.
Then to keep duff forwards, no names mentioned, we were in further trouble.
We got Peltier, let's call him Frankie+,which is the only good thing we have done for the bigger lads division.
These other fringe players, 4 of them, that have been imported are capable journeyman. Not a star among them that I have seen.
We have a core of Rangi, Watson, Beryl and Logan all good playmakers and very tricky on their day.
We have two good wingers in Doherty and Holliday. And we have Tali our mini Yere.
In good conditions and at the Keepmoat we will match anyone if we perform.
In poor conditions we won't be anywhere near as good.
Because we have too many small guys and not enough proper big guys.
So I think where we will be at is in the Hunslet/Keighley mini division, around 3rd or 4th in the table.
Not good enough for automatic promo and at the whim of the gods again in the play offs, although these will be fairer this time around I understand.
I think some fans, are gonna be a tad disappointed at where we are at come Sunday.
Barrow don't have to win, they will win in Cumbria and level it up if they lose, so they can give it a good go and their coach was co-commentator at Worky so will have analysed us ready for Sunday.
Is this a gloomy assessment?
You decide...
