Certainly not an art deco building. Whatever building was there prior, the friar penketh is a new building, built for JD Weatherspoons as a pub. it's not an old building that's been converted.
There was a pub on the site called the Old House at Home . It had a long narrow bar often frequented in the old days by actors and performers at the theatre across the road
