Was there a different context to wanting a player to suffer a career ending injury? Sorry, I clearly missed that.

How many players BTW, have suffered career ending injuries at the hands of Flower?

Re: Injuries,Injuries,Injuries(Again) : Wed Mar 11, 2020 12:43 pm
The fact is in a collision sport injuries occur. For whatever reason we seem to get more than most, although certain teams fans would argue that point. But one of the reasons we have struggled in recent years was because our key personnel have been crocked and missing time and again. Some seem to think these things even out over a season, no they do not.Example, Campese and Kelly, how many times were they on the pitch together??very very few, that,s just one, but an important one,and we lost the million pound game and were relegated(Admittedly the Kelly missing incident was different circumstances) but the point remains. Lose key personnel, and we struggle, and most would.
The situation re. injuries has been discussed, and we all have our opinions, I have said mine before, bad luck and bigger forwards trampling over ours, but, maybe I,m a bit paranoid, but every time we play Wigan I expect injuries, and lo and behold it always seems to happen. Too often, in my opinion, not because of bad luck, but because(in my opinion) of deliberate cynical actions by some individuals which remove players from the field and ultimately affect the result. Of course, the apologists say the "incidents" were not deliberate, maybe they were not, but when you are on the receiving end it makes you think does,nt it?This time we lose 4 players, 2 of which are deemed worthy of bans(Flower gets two matches, what a joke)
Meanwhile, our playing staff is decimated further.
Until the disciplinary panel get their heads in gear and punish the offenders harshly this will never stop, with the potential to finish a players career and income.
How about, as well as giving out long match bans and heavy fines, the offender is banned from playing the same team in the return fixture, hence weakening the offending team and also removing the potential for a re-active flare up, but that,s not going to happen is it?

No problem. I’m sorry for characterising your oversight as deliberate misrepresentation.

You don’t think that is setting the bar rather low?

Are we counting Hohaia’s retirement with recurrent symptoms of concussion in April 2015?

Ben Flower is a human being who has never directly hurt me, and I don’t wish him ill. His actions last weekend I view as being characteristic of an ethos at Wigan that to some degree angers and saddens me, but some parts of which I envy.

If you like, but seeing as he tried and failed to sue Flower due to suffering multiple previous concussions because he didn't know how to tackle, probably not.

I haven’t seen it, but based on what Paul Cooke wrote in the HDM, I think Keyes might have been hit at the line.

Flower’s ‘dangerous contact’ was on Storton and Partington’s was on Mulhern who is out this weekend, but hopefully not too much longer.

I am with you all on this, once again one team suffers at the hands of very rough play but get nothing out of it.

On the other hands the next team benefit greatly. just does not seem fair at all.

Not forget because? That tackle wasn’t a dangerous tackle and certainly not a cannon ball, just an actual legs tackle. Should’ve never have been banned for that.

Exactly the point I was trying to make.

The RFL ‘using their discretion’ to send a message... my backside.

If they never send a message to Wigan, is it a wonder that Wigan never get that message?
