Good game no crowd but crowd noise got better as game went on, new rule avoiding stop start penalties extra 6, any thoughts?

I didn't like the PTB infringement rule - the team giving away the infringement doesn't give 20m away anymore (kick for touch, or even kickable penalty) so whilst it does keep tempo up, it's not long before defensive coaches seek to abuse it.

And so you aim towards the sky,
And you'll rise high today,
Fly away, Far away,
Far from pain....

Was the 'noise' played in over the speakers?.. Seemed quite noisy for just the 2 side's coaching staff and other entourage?

I saw this was on the Forbes website: https://www.forbes.com/sites/mikemeehal ... 72957f4a3b

If the NRL is televised in the US I wonder if it will get a decent audience. They are desperate for live sporting action and it would appeal to NFL fans.

Seemed to be background noise played over the PA, but I thought it was done well, added sense of atmosphere without feeling obviously artificial.

Really enjoyed the game. Great commitment from Parras who were good value for the win. Huge hits as well, like the old days!

Yeah i loved it all, the infringement rule i'm 50/50 on but i thought it sped up the game. And yeah i'm glad there were fan noises as the first 2 games without fans felt weird :-)

I like the repeat set rule, the downside is that you don't get the metres from a kick to the touchline, but the upside is that the defence don't get the chance to reset their line. Another plus point is it keeps the game flowing and the ball is in play even more.

I also feel you might have more chance of getting a repeat set, as before the ref might have been reluctant to give the penalty for small ruck infringements. Maybe in time though the repeat sets will be lower as players will be squeaky clean at the ruck.

Crowd noise is clever to have as it was rather eerie without, and definitely harder to watch you don't realise how much crowd noise helps. An example was All Elite Wrestling had wrestlers as the crowd to provide a bit of noise, which I thought was clever. Then I saw a bit of WWE with just the commentators and it was very flat.

Over here it would need to be adjusted accordingly, so for Saints it would be constant shouts of 'Forward!'.

Obviously only for the opposition 'forward' passes and not including any American Football esque "marginal" forward passes by the Saints.

George Williams was exceptional for the Raiders this morning. That rule change certainly has quickened things up around the ruck in the NRL; be ideal for Clarkey & D.Walker if they brought in a similar rule to SL.
