If I was short sighted I could become a referee!

Six Again ! : Thu May 28, 2020 6:22 pm
If you watched the NRL this morning what did you think of the new six-again” rule, which will allow an attacking team another full set of six tackles rather than stopping play for a penalty. Seemed to have a big effect early on when the Eels got a couple straight after each other but then not implement much after that .

What, and lose the possible chance of 30/40 metres ground advantage plus the six tackles? :?

Yes I take your point but sometimes debatable decisions at the play-the-ball get some teams out of trouble or adversely affect the result. Leeds are brilliant at milking penalties to get out of their own half this rule means they get an advantage but still have to work hard to get downfield.

Know what you mean BIH, but isn't that down to the referee to put his foot down on that sort of gamesmanship? I just wish that we could go at least two seasons without messing about with the rules. We have the greatest game in the world why do we need to go on changing it?

I thougt this rule had only been introduced due tothe covid restrictions banning ball boys, it wasn't in place for the first 2 games and I'm sure it's only in place whilst there still isn't a crow or ball boy to get the balls returned to the field :?

To be fair I've always thought a penalty was double punished. I think it should be either a reset tackle count from the mark of the infringement or kick for field position with the same tackle count. Team to notify the ref which decision they wish to take.

Re: Six Again ! : Fri May 29, 2020 8:36 am
Dont like it tbh.
It takes away the skill of kickers - for example - kicking into the corner.
If you get a repeat set penalty in your own 10 and then drop the ball on the 1st, then the advantage has gone.
Hope it is only during this rule is in place during this difficult time, but if it isnt you can guarantee that the numpties at the RFL will bring it in....

Not for me. Agree with Redscat, stop messing with the rules and I say that as a Trinity supporter who has seen the opposition 'piggy backed' up the field to our detriment more times than I can remember. But, that's our fault for giving the penalty away in the first place.
