Lois Johnson : Mon Nov 23, 2020 9:34 pm
Hi guys, I'm not expecting 7 pages of comments and good comments, it seems like my team (Hull KR) have signed Luis. We had him on loan for 6-7 games In 2019 along with Harvey Livett.

I thought Johnson was a really good go forward prop and give his all and can understand why you paid a good fee for him. Was surprised why you let him go.

Livett always seemed like an oversized half back who is not big enough for 2nd row.

What are your thoughts, especially Johnson

Never took his chances, generally has looked average when he has played and a move that offers more 1st team games is probably a good move for him...

Wasn't exactly given many chances. Which is strange seeing as we paid a fee for him at a young age. Price is a coach who simply will NOT take risks. If a first team second rower is out injured, he moves a centre there to cover. Young players won't get a chance under him. The only time we saw our academy players was against Hull when we were decimated by covid and v Salford before the semi. Funnily enough, we actually looked a good team to watch in those 2 games.

Johnson was never given a chance at all, and certainly never in his true position - second row. He isn't a prop and has never claimed to be.

A new start under an excellent coach who wants to play him and wants to play entertaining rugby is best for him, I wish him luck.

Very well put. He's not a prop could be a very good second row with the right opportunities. Best of luck to him.

Never took his chances? He’s played about 5 times in two/three years.

Man of the match in his first game away at Wigan....obviously dropped the following week and wasn't seen for a while afterwards. Price has his own little chumocracy going on and it has to stop.

It looks like Sita and Latu won't get many offers so we may be lumbered with em. How about Price earns his corn and actually tries motivating them and getting the best out of their limited abilities....thats his job after all. Instead, it seems, he'd rather alienate people with his poor man management skills.

And when he has, he's been, bad and average. I can only remember one game where I've come away thinking, he did alright.

Remember last year when he dropped a ball against saints in a hit up and mysteriously had a head injury? (See the Briers limp)

I had heard that he had his card marked during his first pre season under price, he's spoken many times about getting that right, I believe he came in and was somewhat of a let down.

I disagree. He was MOTM against Wigan at home and played really well this season against Salford. He did well on loan at HKR also and everytime I've watched him I've thought he's a good player with potential who hasn't been given anywhere near enough of a chance. Throwing him in every 12 weeks and expecting wonders and him to have some sort of rhythm is just lunacy.

My gripe is the inconsitencies when it comes to recruitment and new deals etc. Young players like Johnson who have only had minimal chances in the first team and not let us down when played (whilst we already have a shortage of props) are moved on yet we offer new deals to senior players like Jason Clark who doesn't do nowhere near enough and easily upgradeable.

I couldn't agree more to be honest. Hoped to see more from him, but never really did anything but make up numbers. Shame really.
