Fax on way to Spain : Mon Feb 16, 2009 8:40 am
No, Not a Seanfax Courier link thread ;) but a bit of a thought for the coming week.

After a rusty start yesterday against Hunslet, which was down to problems with doing ball work ect in Training because of the recent weather. A weeks warm weather training in Spain should really put some polish on the moves they were trying.

Hopefully it'll be a great build up to the Barrow game, and perhaps give us the edge.

Warm weather Brew?

Arrived in Spain on Saturday and have brought the cold weather with me. Dull, cold and rainy.

Just checked the weather forecast for malaga and it shows sunny and 17 degrees all week.

That'll do nicely for the lads

FAILURE ISN'T ABOUT FALLING DOWN, FAILURE IS STAYING DOWN..........

: Tue Feb 17, 2009 7:36 am
I know how frustrating it has been for some of the players & staff with the weather around here recently, but it doesn't help matters when they have to travel out of town to get sessions in midweek due to the lack of appropriate facilities available to use in Calderdale with or withoutt adverse weather conditions.
This isn't having a go at the club in any way at all more sticking up for them, but amateur clubs have better floodlit outdoor facilities available to use. What is it with this town ? There is absolutely nothing.......
The amateur club I'm involved with is also a "shared" club just as the Shay complex is with the footy club and we've recently had to cancel training sessions of all age groups to give the training & playing pitches chance to rcover from the battering. The King Cross Park lads even met early prior to their home fixture with Illingworth on saturday and took their own shovels to clear the pitch of frozen snow to enable the game to go ahead, a pitch which is on Savile park at that !
Our very own moderator of this messageboard NAT will I'm sure be very grateful of the effort put in so that he could play a game of RL

I find it very interesting when I see the state of Sport Facilities in England in comparison to here in Germany. For Example Bad Reichenhall where we have now a team and where the Sponsors of the German National team are from is a good example.

A population of around 20,000 with a fair share of Elderly people yet the Town has a top Spa, Sauna Wellness area with good swimming facilities. It has 2 Sports stadiums-of which we used one in 1996 for a game against an Austrian Select which can hold around 3000 or so and has a pitch to warm up on and athletics track alongside a decent sized Clubhouse. Then there are big park as well as Mountain paths designed for easy to extreme fitness. There is also a paragliding good Skiing facilities, Tennis Courts, Ice Hockey, Cross Country Ski areas amongst other things. Then when I look at Halifax/Calderdale there is a massive difference in attitude to the different Towns in view of Sports, Leisure and Health. Calderdale Council spend as little as anything on Parks and Sports Facilities preferring to sell things rather than invest. Bad Reichenhall although a lot smaller the attitude is to promote Sports and the outdoor life. I think France is another Country that that promotes Sports a lot better than the people running towns and the Nation in England.
There is a lot more to do Sportswise in Bavaria and kids are expected to join Sports Clubs from a young age. This keeps them out of trouble and because clubs have big membership numbers bringing in more money then facilities can be upgraded more.
On Saturday 60 CM of Snow fell in Bad Reichenhall and another 70 CM yesterday yet the people do not stay in they are out skiing or walking and doing something. Germans seem to be a more outdoors type people and Sports are promoted rather than in Halifax where the Council shut the Swimming Baths, sell off School fields etc and do not promote Sports that much amongst the young.

Do Fax really have the money to send a squad of players to Spain??

I don't really buy into this 'warm weather training' lark. Surely the team should be practising their ballwork in a climte they will actually be playing in. Anyone can catch and pass a ball in perfect dry conditions.

I think this is a case of the club saying 'look at us, we're full time and minted' !!!

A ) Fax a PART Time
B ) The Players & Coaching staff payed themselves not the club
C ) The Facilities in halifax are poor enough let alone in the Bad Weather which has put Fax back around 2 weeks as they had problems training especially ball Skills

Your post came across as though you have a problem with Fax-get over it!
