When we played manly in the 1980's we did so with a complete british team.

thats right, no foreign players.

So if we had to field a side of British players now what would it be like.

1. Mathers
2. Ainscough
3. Goulding
4. Thornley
5. Pryce
6. Lockers
7. S Tomkins
8. Fielden
9. McIlorum
10. O Carroll
11. Hock
12. Hansen ( the lad is british really)
13. J Tomkins

14. Mossop
15. Coley
16. Flanagan
17. Prescott

What are your thoughts about how that side would shape up should it need to be played?

It would be battered most weeks but would grow as the players matured.

The problem is though the good hidings both in result terms and physically they'd get most weeks would take it's toll long term.

I think it gives a massive statement about how reliant on overseas players we have become.

The whole Super Duper League is reliant on foreign players.

Not true, look at what is happening in london. ORL probably got the most home based players in any SL at the moment.

Look at all the foreign players in the sides. Then tell me the Super Duper League is not reliant on foreign players. Steve Menzies at 35 is coming to the Super League thiis year. It is the knackers yard where NRL has-beens come to ply their trade, and the odd one looking for a salary boost.
