I like how most of the crowd in the north stand waited for him to get to his feet before going home

hope he's resting now and can shrug that knock off

It was good to see him get to his feet and walk off the field and just to echo the sentiment of others, he's one of the most exciting players to ever wear the red, white & blue of Trinity, talk about knowing where the try line is, WOW.

I've watched Trinity since the early 1960's and I've seen some cracking wingers at BV, the likes of the great South African Jan Prinsloo, Fred Smith, Gert Coetzer (another South African), Ken Hirst, and such as Keith Slater and David Smith a few years after. All these guys were class wingers who scored some spectacular tries in their era.
RL is a much different game now but I have to say it is an absolute privilege to watch some of Tom's tries and those tonight were out of the top drawer. Tom would fit into any Trinity team I have seen and he fast becoming my favorite ever winger.

Would agree with all those names that you mention Trinity with the possible addition of Owen Stephens, but with TJ we've certainly got a "one off". That second try with the juggling and acrobatics would qualify him for a job with Chipperfield's Circus. Hoping and praying that he can shake off the "knock" he got last night. He's certainly lived up to all the hype that surrounded him at the start of his career. The only thing that could prevent his England selection is that he doesn't play for a "fashionable" club.

How good is Tom? I was happy with the form he was showing earlier in the season after such a terrible injury, but to come back even better than he was before (IMO) is incredible. Now joint top scorer in Superleague with a good chance of claiming top spot! Not checked but I am pretty certain we have never had a top try scorer in SL.

Surely he must get his chance in the next England test?

It's almost freaky how good he came back in the first place and then to take it to another level in the same season is just World Class imo. It's a testament to the Cub but mostly Tom himself that he was able to return in such a fashion after a serious injury. As we've seen with other good players that get injured, there's no guarantee whether you're going to come back in timely fashion and then be at the same level when you do.

Obviously, Wayne Bennett rates him very highly, being an old winger himself. Tom said in an interview when he was talking about the dark days of not playing and rehabbing, that Bennett spoke to him a number of times about things & was a key part in keeping his motivational levels really high because he had the England carrot dangling right in front of him.

Ah Mick! the old Sutcliffe Stephens pairing - forgot about them! Yes Owen Stephens knew the way to the line as well!

Tom suffered a Hyperextension of his right knee won’t know how long he is out for until it settles down a bit. Club hoping weeks rather than months

That'll unfortunately cost him top try scorer.
Shame that. I think that would have helped his dream team and International ambitious. Sky would have been all over it.

It’s a shame as think Saints will make a break and will probably risk not scoring just to get Barba another try.
