Surely it can only be a player from Catalans. Probably the best RL side I have ever witnessed in this season's comp.

Alex Foster of Cas voted for Robbie Mulhern and Ash Handley as his top two. Toby King of Warrington voted for Huddersfield youngster Louis Senior. A number of the French players from Catalans voted for anyone French at other clubs. This resulted in Romain Navarette being one of the ten most common first choices. These were not the only bizarre choices.

Time to change the system as some players clearly don't care enough to vote seriously. Either use a Dally M type system where points accrue week by week or go back to a representative panel that choose the winner after the playoff semi finals. I would prefer the representative panel approach as the Dally M type system could easily result in someone who is the best player in a poor side winning simply because they are always the best performer in that poor side (this has happened with the Albert Goldthorpe Medal awarded by League Express) rather than being a standout player in the competition.

Agree with this. Representative panel would be the ideal solution if players cant take it seriously.

King James

Why not just provide 5 nominations and let the players vote against them

Yes it has, hence once he had his future NRL contract sorted and couldn't be bothered, Saints lost most of their games including a CC semi and GF semi.

Indeed, he certainly influenced Lineham's ability to reach the try line so easily in the final 10 on Thursday!

Some of the players have really taken the you know what and shouldn’t be allowed to vote again.

My preference would be for each team to have an internal vote to determine their player if the year to give a 12 man shortlist. Each club coach and captain then have a vote but can’t vote for their own club.

Some players have turned the MoS award into a joke. Considering who it is named after they should be ashamed.

So where's this list of who everyone voted for? I assume it's available to the public?

Handley returned the favour. No monkey business there then. Brad Singleton's shout for Kyle Amor might be a tiny bit tongue in cheek too. That said, the bulk of the voting was so orthodox we might as well have given the votes to Eddie, Barrie Mac and Jon Wells etc...

I think they should do the Man of Steel award as part of the Eurovision Contest, it wouldn't look too out of place as far as voting credibility is concerned.
