How far in our history do we need go where we've beaten a team in red in a final?

Maybe because
a) the team in red was better than us, on the day
b) bent refs/RL instruction (I've been to a couple of "dodgy" decision finals)
c) teams in red have been knocked out in earlier rounds, so we play teams in blue, amber, red, gold etc

You're missing the very important key words.
When margins are tight. The colours have no significant effect where as you said Mr Blobbys playing crappy reds.

There wasn't really a tight margin there.... John Cogger's Oldham were a 2nd division team in 1989/90

They did. It was early in the season and Pies hadn't really got going and Saints were pants to average at their best during the season anyway.
But we had a weapon and a half...Greg Mackey

Got to be honest the impact he made was like Andrew Johns vs Leeds for 3 months.
I don't recall a player making such an impact as Greg Mackey.
Perhaps Hastings at Salford was akin.

I was at the final early on the day and saw Keith Holden being wheeled in....our "best £10k I ever spent!" (Peter Higham).
He also had his crutches and was still in a cast. I spoke to him and he was eager to return.... I never saw or remember anything about him after that day.

Can anyone shed light on it?

My personal favourites are:

But we’ve not had kits that look like that for a very long time!

But you look back through history we had primrose+blue hoops with white collar, white shorts and primrose+blue hooped socks for a huge amount of time throughout the first half of our 143 year existence.

This majority blue style we’ve had in the SL era has always looked more like Leeds than it has traditional Warrington, for me. There have been some nice majority blue kits we’ve had but they will never be as good as those two above in my opinion.

If we ever had to stamp a home and away kit colour down that couldn’t be changed I’d have the above Harry Bath hoops kit as our home colours and the white Brian Bevan kit as our away colours.

I don’t mind the changing styles we have though. There’s only so many combinations of one style you can have where kits just all look the same. I think it’s quite exciting not knowing what we will have each year. I just wish we’d stop relying on majority blue (last season’s kit barely had any primrose on it at all and that’s the first word when you say our colours “PRIMROSE and blue”).

Tell you what though, I went down to the club shop yesterday and saw the grey and green away in the flesh for the first time and it’s really impressive! Nice material as well and the badge blends in on the fan version as if it were the player version (rather than the stitched on badges you usually get on fan kits).
