He’s in the squad for Castleford and I can see the sense in it. He’s not a great player by any stretch but he’s big and I’m fairly sure they play the same tactics as they did at their place a few weeks ago. We’re gonna need our forwards to step up a gear and Tautai surely knows he’s on thin ice!

We haven't had a 'tackling machine' who blocks the middle like Ian Potter or Mick Cassidy for many a year. A great shame that.

True but Partington made 52 tackles against Cas last time we played. Good effort that.

Powell does it regular as clockwork

Partington looked out on his feet last Monday though along with Smithies
We need to watch we don't burn them out?

I’m surprised with not seen a bit more rotation with Byrne and Paisley. I thought the pair of them have shown up pretty well this season.

I've always had a bit of a concern about paisley in that I always wondered if he had enough mongrel in him (info from players who he's played with etc.).
But his performance against Cats was very good.
Surprised he didn't feature in any of next 4/5 especially as smithies and partington looked out on their feet.

Byrne looks ok to me for now, but aerobically he seemed to struggle to get about and back into line (not that makes him any worse than Tautai!) So I could understand being a bit more patient.

It may just be me but we seem to produce a lot of ‘nice lads’ who are forwards and when we do bring through somebody with natural aggression (probably ala Partington at the minute) they lack in other areas.

It’s probably that bit of everything which encourages me most about young Smithies.
