Not sure why we keep revisiting this, we were desperate for a quality half, we managed to sign one, but given the comments from KF on how he had to be coerced over it was clearly a risk.

It didn't work out, Roberts wasn't happy and didn't have the strength of character to be able to put in a shift every week.

Roberts did the right thing, holding his hand up and going home, it allowed us to bring in Austin and now Widdop for 2020, he could quite easily have carried on pocketing a £300k+ per year till the end of his contract.

At the end of the day, it seems to have worked out for both parties.

Totally agree. We really need to move on. We are beginning to sound like a dumped spouse going on about their ex.

All the odder when that dumping allowed us to find a proverbial girlfriend that was twice as attractive and half as crazy.

I have disdain for the man. But who cares when we have Blake Austin now and both him and Gareth Widdop for next year.

We've come out of it very well. Let's move on.

Exactly. He turned out to have bad character and we are well rid. His life will no longer influence mine so he can slink back into my "best forgotten about" box with the likes of Russell, Asotasi, that winger with dangerous dogs, England, Bailey, the sick note centre, the heavy metal show pony, Cox, et al. Jees just going through that list shows me the abject poop we have signed in the last 8 years.

Just my opinions unless it's a FACT, in which case it's a fact.

Starting to understand the phrase “haters will hate”. We are having a good season without him (and the various historical characters referenced, some I agree with, some I consider unfairly judged).

Yep but ....

1. He could have spared us all the newspaper articles/lies denying he was "homesick" and had "settled well". Just kept quiet.
2. He could have given it his all and looked remotely bothered about the club and fans when he pulled on the shirt.

It's harsh to attack him for those newspaper articles - he was asked questions by journalists and tried to say what he thought the right thing to say was, which is what he will be doing now saying its such an honour to be Titans captain.

The big question is where will the Titans be at the end of the season and is he going to provide inspirational leadership that takes them to the upper reaches of the table. My guess is no.

I remember watching Roy Keane summarising an Arsenal game a few years back and he said "If Kieran Gibbs is your captain....you're in trouble, you're in big trouble" and I feel the same about the Titans and Roberts. He just does not seem to have that spirit and charisma that you need in a captain. I think Roberts is an OK player, not a great player, and a quiet, introverted personality, not a charismatic leader. Will be interesting to see how the Titans go.

I don't get the hatred towards Roberts.

He was just an average player. I don't think he played poorly for us, that was just his level.

Similar to Patton now.

I'm not sure anybody "hates" him, that's a bit of a facile description.

I think it was more frustration and disappointment. Here we were without a decent halfback in a good few years and we sign Roberts in a very high profile recruitment and he turned out to be a complete and utter wet lettuce, whilst giving the impression that he couldn't give a toss.
