So were there u16's today the same age as our 16's from last season like Atkinson, Nichol, Watten, Field, Parsons etc? And there 18's today the same age as our 2nd year Academy players from last season like Holroyd, Jonhson, Broadbent, Walters, Whitten etc?

Yes Matt that’s what I was told . You only had to look at the size differential especially across the back. I thought the 16s held their own for long periods . Made some crucial errors at times towards the back end of half’s but they tried to play football and scored some good tries and the one that wasn’t looked good to me from where I was stood . I like the look of a lot of this side . Young Davies and Gannon were standouts today . Thought the prop Gunn did some good stuff too. Think the 3 kids off the bench were only 14 so it was always a big ask. A good game to watch though well done both sides

If that was the case then we did very well, 11 of our u18s today were last years 16s, if they were the same age as there 16's, then you'd think theyd give there 16's a serious game.

That’s the theory but I guess we will never know .
I enjoyed both games today thought the 16s was end to end and the 18s a bit conservative at times . Still nice to be back at the stadium watching Rugby again . Quite a few there I was stood with a load of parents from last years 16s and they loved the fact the boys were playing a touring side and were allowed to play at the stadium. As the saying goes rugby league was definitely the winner today !

Indeed, great experience for the lads. Did a bit of digging and it confirmed what you said, the lads in the NSW country u16's team were u16's this season gone, so the same age group as the 11 we had playing u18s today. Puts a much healthier perspective on our lads efforts.

The NSW boys are mostly contracted to NRL clubs, the u16 have had a great year and almost beat the NSW city team which contained the best young talent in Australia.
Would have been interesting to see how the Leeds under 16 players went against them instead of playing up 2 years.
Tom Holroyd and Jack Broadbent to name a couple are young enough to have played today in the 18’s game.
By the way, isn’t the young Sinfield lad only 14 ?

Jack Sinfield was 15 a couple of months ago, i think Fin Rogers might still be 14, hes a scrum half but came on at full back and did well to be fair.

It was a big step up from what the young kids are used to but it wont harm them and it will have been a good experience and good learning curve for them.

That NSW under 16 side most of the players are aligned to NRL clubs pathways, 5 are with the Titans and a couple are with Penrith Panthers.

He came on at HB but didnt get any real chance to sign only thing i remember was him taking a quick pass & kicking through in one movement under huge pressure.

Ive known Jack all his life and have watched him play for Saddleworth as a half back. Hes an outstanding young player, good brain, good defender, tough and a great goalkicker but hes still very young.

Thought Joe Burton showed his class when he came on for the 18's, his footwork is exceptional.
