If you take any highlights "package" you will see some great rugby, and that's why fans, myself included tend to eulogise about the past.

I wish the club would release an app on which Wigan TV could be watched, there’s so many ‘bugs’ when watching it on a browser (not the most technical minded)

You’re not wrong. The rugby played under Madge and the early Wane years was incredible. Ahead of the time of the rest of SL, a lot like Saints last year were.

How we didn't win a trophy (other than the hubcap) in 2012 will always confuse me. I think we had some unlucky injuries for the Leeds PO SF (Tomkins and McIlorum) and the only scored off a 100m intercept try. Richards missed a touchline kick to win it and then IIRC Murphy dropped a high kick and they got a penalty to win.

In the CC SF we collapsed in the first half with Tomkins getting loads of abuse (dropped a couple of bombs I think) but then we came back at them until they scored a try from an obvious knock on. Just wasn't our year in the big games.

The same happened to Wire the year before.

Coaches then started realising the regular season meant nothing and you just had to turn up for the big games.

Agree, baffles me completely how we didn’t come away with a trophy. The rugby we played in 2012 was sublime. But then 2013 happened and we were even better IMO, coming away with a much deserved double.

Was going to post very similar. I think it’s our best side of the last decade from a talent point of view but we fell short in two semis. That link between Hock and Sam Tomkins was pretty much unplayable in the weekly rounds. On top of those we had Carmont, Richards, Finch, Lockers, Micky Mac, Farrell etc. It was a superb team and I still enjoy watching the highlights of games like Good Friday, Magic and Leeds away.

Wasn't the Richards kick to win it in 2010 after the Maguire injury?

In 2012 we led by a point and Finch inexplicably tried a fancy little kick inside rather than drilling the ball into the canal, Zak picked it up made a break and Faz gave away a penalty
