Good grief it’s a twitter spat no more significant than a playground spat. Move on.

"Brian McDermott, with a wry smile, nods when asked if he remembers a specific incident which made him realise he was a prick. 'I do', he murmurs."

Looking at Fosters pathetic replies to Hardaker and other fans, I could imagine why Hardaker isn’t keen.
You know it was Hardaker who launched into Foster, right? It was totally unprovoked and, as a general point, a massive red flag that Hardaker is coming off the rails again.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.

:)

It just begs a few questions:
1) why is he drinking anything at all
2) even if he is, why is he posting pictures of it on Twitter as a professional sportsman, particularly one with a history of issues with booze
3) following up posting pictures of drinks on Twitter with foul mouthed, unprovoked rants on Twitter is boneheaded, even for him.

Irrespective of the Twitter nonsense, I wouldn't be happy with a player who is apparently trying to kick his bad habits that have caused him so much trouble in the past posting pictures of them on the internet.

I also think the days of accepting professional players drinking before training should be gone but I admit that not all players will behave that way at any club. I bet there is a high correlation between those that don't drink during the season and fulfilment of potential though. I mean - how long has he had off?! With a week to go before the first game he can't go without drinking?

Maybe there’s a reason he went for him. There is clearly some ill feeling there and neither party covered themselves in glory. I think plenty of people want it to be a red flag and maybe it is. There is an element of people in the game desperate to see him mess up and I find that pretty sad but I get it. The guy has surprised me since he came to the club in just what a genuinely good guy he seems to be but he’s obviously made numerous mistakes in his time and as his agent pointed out they usually involve drink. I didn’t want him at Wigan and wouldn’t have gone near him but from the outside I’d give him a lot of praise for how he’s handled himself to date. You sense lockdown has been a challenge and I’m sure the club will be talking to him about how he’s getting on.

The thing that made me worry is that when you meet Zak, he’s one of the most polite and humble players around. He has time for people, spends hours doing stuff with supporters and doesn’t see himself as special in any way.
The issue is when he has a drink or ten inside him. I’m pretty sure that a sober Zak Hardaker wouldn’t get into that kind of abusive exchange on Twitter. And given his previous issues with alcohol, what happened is a big warning sign that things are not going well for him.
