One thing to bare in mind, is that a lot of the referees currently in SL are young and inexperienced. Similar to players, we have to be patient and expect them to make mistakes, they'll learn, but they'll still make less mistakes than the players themselves.
I'd put holmes's sending off on a level with sinfields a few years back: at the softer end of an automatic red. Don't remember cas cryarsing on about the game having gone soft and bad reffing back then though I suppose anythings possible
Fans of all clubs would do well to remember that every now and again, at all levels the game is played.
When your head coach is constantly moaning about referees that attitude will seep through to both players and supporters IMO.
I thought the ref had a poor game last night, but so what, they are human it happens but ni ref in the professional game has ever been corrupt or bent and those suggesting it need to have a word with themselves.

Good point and does mirror the two incidents well. It was the intent that got both players sent off not the force in which it was aimed. Both players foolish and Holmes will probably be available for the return game.
Just nipped over for a gander. They are not happy!
I think we’ll all agree, Leeds lad/fan or not, Tom Grants had a shocker for both teams. I remember being amused at some of his decisions at Headingley earlier this year when he reffed us.
To generalise, i thought we got away with boat loads of infringements that i could quite easily see Kendal, Hicks et al pinging us for and rightly so. I mean, Hurrell hits Trueman on suspicion, play on. And then pings Cas for exactly the same thing. Asking for trouble.
But Cas werent guilt free and they obviously came with a disruptive game plan which unfortunately will sometimes go against you.
I thought one of Grants biggest failings was he had chance to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and assert his authority but instead he allowed it to descend into a niggly, scrappy affair.
On the Myler/Holmes incident, and to coin an F1 phrase, its a “racing incident” in that Myler is fighting for a quick PTB and he has “accidentally” elbowed Holmes in the face. Holmes reaction initially is something weve seen many times before and will always be penalised. But the “kick” forceful or not, has intent and deserved a red. If folk are saying their kid kicks harder then maybe Holmes shouldve put some actual effort into it and made the red worth it. Simple fact is, it was silly and petulant and hes paid the price. It reminded me of the Bailey/Radford incident years ago. Those baying for Mylers blood, ask yourself this, next time a player is fighting for a quick PTB and accidentally catches the tackler with his boot, he hasnt kicked him on purpose. Its part of the tackle. Heads and elbows and knees and hips sometimes dont go together well. I dont think Myler is at risk.
Watched the Dwyer/McShane incident a few times. Will be interesting to see what happens with that one. He looks as if he had his bumpers up more than has lead with the elbow. Again, seen those penalised in the past. Wasnt it Watts against McIllorum got a red a couple of years ago for similar.
Anyway, a real dogfight of a game that im glad weve won. Thursdays selection should be interesting.
Yup the ref spoilt the game for both teams. He dropped loads of ball, Made some awful decisions Kicked out petulebtku at someone Tackled a man without the ball who had a walk in.........
Let's not pretend our fans are angels on this score. Even after the last 16 years when we have won every trophy multiple times, many still insist every ref is biased against us.

I very rarely complain about refs but I've also never met a fan who thinks the ref will be on their side but plenty who think they will be against.
