Many RL fans under 40 or 50 (I am 49) forget that there was RL before Super League & that Division 1 was the top tier.
With that in mind Leigh have been successful more recently than Warrington & have won it twice !
People who support a club that was "protected" by *Licensing* for over a decade also forget just how easy they have had it by comparison !!!
Those of us that have relatively recently had a taste of both (or even all 3!) divisions, have a very different perspective about the whole game to those that have never tasted being outside the top flight. I suspect that back in the day when Bradford were in SL I was guilty of apathy about the other clubs, and I can remember thinking the fans liked a whinge. Now I see that I was completely wrong in my smug cocoon and that there always needs to be a battle against the inherent self-interest of SL clubs.
It would do the whole game a lot of good if some of the clubs that haven't been outside the top flight in recent memory had a little taste. It's not going to happen but they'd come back better for it and with the humility needed to address the game's problems. At least everyone bidding to go up is in that boat.
