Dewsbury 18 fax 22 wake up call . If they lose its hatchet time on the football management structure ( which might just encourage them to put game heads on and win )

What a shame we are even talking like that. The fact is though, we've been In't 2nd division nearly 20 years and not topped the table once!

While I would much rather Springer was on the 17 I can understand Grix's thinking - just don't agree with it. When your focus is more on not losing than going hard for the win you go for solid performers like Garside rather than someone who may make mistakes but can also pull something special out of the bag. We've had the same in the past with players like Worrincy and Barlow who were probably a lot more popular with fans than coaches. We knew what we were getting with Spinger and for me he's performed as expected so seems a bit daft to then leave him out.

Well I actually enjoyed that, not something I've been able to say very often this season. In fairness to Grix he picked a team that was able to carry out his instructions to the letter - high completion rate, very few errors, running hard and spending vast majority of the game in the opposition half. With the forwards getting on top both half- backs had excellent games, Barber has surely done enough th cement a spot at centre - but my man of the match, not for the first time this season was JWH - solid and dependable in defence and dome brilliant link up play in attack.

Re: Dewsbury Rams. : Sun May 09, 2021 6:30 pm
credit were it is due i did not see that performance coming and will hold my hands up to that. Brandon moore was back to looking like is old self and i just think everything we did was with a greater intensity then we have seen so far this season with and without the ball. As for dewsbury i thought they were very poor they never gave themselves a chance with repeated forward passes and knock ons while the game was still a contest and then the game went away from them on the back of those mistakes as well as fax playing well. My opinion on simon grix as not changed i do not think he can get the best out of this squad on a consistent basis we seem to have a good performance about every 1 in every 5 games and that is not good enough i just hope the board don't hide behind todays game and act like everything is fine now it will take a lot more performances and results like today to convince me that he is the right man for the job

Far better performance that was down largely to sticking to a simple game plan for much of the game.
As a result the contrast from last week where no one played well this week no one played badly.

We still made a few errors but Dewsbury didn’t capitalise from any of them, had they done it could have been a different game and they made it a bit easier by giving a lot of penalties and dropped ball.

Never thought I’d say this either but we got just about every call from the ref and touch judge.

Next week against Sheffield will be the perfect test to see if we can back it up.

That shows its... get your players focused and out on the pitch to do a job.the squad is good enough just get them on the field focused on delivery and most likely they will do so

Honestly Im not getting too excited. It was a much needed win and a very good performance overall. On the flip side Dewsbury were awful and no disrespect to them but if we want the top 5 then we should be beating Dewsbury. Lets see how we back up next week and see if we have hopefully turned the corner. As has been said Barber has to be played at centre, I don't think he is good enough in the back row but at centre he is excellent pretty much every time he plays there. JWH was good and he should be the fullback but will obviously be shifted once Grix is fit. Thought Tangata and Moore looked good as well.
