Plan A and B : Sat May 08, 2021 6:38 am
I was unable to watch the game last night, but I thought we were due to start with Thewliss at the back, Inglis in the centres, and Mamo on the wing. Then Ratchford picked up an injury during the warm up and he was replaced by Austin. But Price then also moved Mamo, Thewliss and Inglis around. Have we any idea why ?

I would think that was always the way we were going to line up, just maybe not the way the squad was announced earlier in the day. A mind game perhaps? Ratchford must have been close to missing out anyway for the last minute change.

Inglis was always going to play full back, according to Steve Price. No need to tell the world.

I was looking at the Guardian match report and just prior to the game starting that was what they were showing as the team selection. In fact I had a look on their site ( 'as it happened') and it is still up there. That would beg the question as to who gave the Warrington Guardian the 'plan A', surely that would have been a Wire official ?

Looks like Wire were playing games with Catalan right up to kick off. Team announced on Twitter & Guardian had Thewlis at FB.
But ... in the warm up out on the pitch Inglis was at Full Back (also reported in Guardian).

Inglis said in his interview that was always the plan, so did price. Mind games basically.

I was looking forward to Thewlis getting his chance at fullback but he still showed up well on the wing. And as Price quite rightly says, Inglis sorting the numbers at the back was one of the reasons for that defensive performance.
