The other way it’s fine as long as the player jumps from the field of play, I’d assumed that because he jumped from outside the field of play the ball should have been dead when he touched it.

The ball is in touch if a player jumps from touch and while off the ground touches the ball.

Most players probably don't know this then.

You always see players try and jump from the field of play and try and bat the ball back in rather than just run into touch and jump up.

That’s what I thought it was but assumed I was wrong as the try was given. Shocking decision.
