I am unsure how reducing energy consumption creates sustainable jobs?
The world's leading research institute is here in Leeds; http://www.lowcarbonfutures.org/reports ... ch-reports More sustainable than the incinerator in keighley that will burn 100,000t of recyclable waste a year, releasing a cocktail of the most poisonous chemicals known to science over everywhere in the wind path from Keighley to Leeds. But it will create 75 jobs, so our vacuous MP is supporting it.

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

I take it they will close it on Friday so the Imam wont have to ingest the fumes when he calls the population of Keighley to prayers
Joking aside I agree there has to be a better way of disposing of our toxic waste

It is isn't toxic waste. It is recyclable. Incineration requires continued over consumption of scarce resources which is doubly insane.
Most of the world chooses convenience over being "green" all day long. Too many people consuming more than they need and nothing significant will be done until it's too late.
If Stephen Hawking is right (and we need to colonise another planet within 100 years), we should all be living like nuns but, nobody will sacrifice the 3 cars on their drive or scale back their personal consumption.

You are partly right. It is very difficult living in a society that constantly bombards you with advertising & glossy magazines to believe that you can be content without those consumerables & that life style. The fact is, over a certain income which I would suggest around £40k, generally money does not bring more contentment. Until people are aware of, or have to pay the full cost for, their actions they will still want a big car. But their penis will still be the same size.

But that's the way the world has gone. We've been beaten with the economy stick and told to aspire, work, earn, spend, consume, because it's good for the economy. And the 'wealth creators' can create jobs for 'hardworking people' who in turn create more wealth for the wealth creators, who then trickle it back to everyone...
