Apparently Doddy went on so late one night/morning, a member of the crew threw the door keys on stage and shouted for him to lock up when he was done.

This was the late '80s: he was wonderfully generous - and the most amazing performer I have ever seen.

Doddy has always said he tailors his humour to the part of the country he's performing in. Clearly, in your part of the world where people are, to put in politely, "a bit slow", he felt the need to repeat himself 3 times.

Twice, once doing a 20 min bit in Edinburgh, and once when he came to Hull Truck a few years ago.

Interesting, not to sure quite what to make of him.

I saw bits when he was first starting before swearing off TV and he looked good, and he seems to be very well regarded by fellow comedians. There's a handful of clips on youtube, too. Doesn't seem to be promoted that much though, so the only times I've found out about gigs in the area they've either already passed or been sold out. I'd like to see him, though, just need to keep a closer eye on his website.

BS! I saw him this year in Huddersfield and he was brilliant. He did repeat one joke immediately after the break but quickly realised. Not bad for 85+! Like people have said he hits you with that many gags it's hard to remember them all. However, my fave of the night -:

"I'd like to buy a bra for my wife"
"What bust?"
"Nothing. It just wore out!"

I nearly wet myself!
