The biography of the former Halifax player Garfield Owen will be formally launched on the morning of Thursday 26th May in the South Stand bar at The Shay. It is titled "A Welshman In Halifax. Garfield Owen Rugby League Footballer".
The speakers will be Garfield himself, Kel Coslett, Geoff Pimblett and Andrew Hardcastle the biographer.
All Halifax fans are invited to attend this event which has a formal start of 11.30.
Just in time for a nice Fathers' Day present too.

Will try very hard to be there, But, come on how many supporters can be there on a Thursday morning at 11.30?

For those who cant attend you could contact the club and order your copy. Im sure Andrew will be most obliging if you need one putting aside. I have rerserved my copies and hopefully Garfield will be able to sign them too.

I will definitely buy a copy. He's a super bloke and although I never saw him play he was a great player by all accounts. He's raised a lot of money for charity over the years and is still a regular at the Shay. Fans should support him and buy the book. Can anyone lend me a tenner?

The Shay Stadium management have offered an upgrade, so the book launch has been moved to the Banqueting Suite in the East Stand. It's not just a book signing; there will be speeches from past players, there's a free mini buffet, and the bar will be open - but not free.

All messageboard users very welcome - even if you don't want to buy the book. 11 for 11.30 a.m. - the lunch-time selection is because the publisher needs to get back to London. Plus, most supporters who remember Garfield are retired!
