Neil's Notes v Keighley : Sun Apr 08, 2012 7:30 am
After such a good win at Sheffield the week before we were all looking forward to another open game. We should know by now though with our close connections with Keighley they are always close games but Friday nights could not have been closer. When was the last time that only 1 point was scored in one half? It leaves us though top of the league with our next league game on Thursday week against Leigh, a game not to miss. Next however on Saturday is just the matter of the Challenge cup against South Wales. The second draw for Club 1873 took place with our old friend Dave Wrench pulling out the numbers.
1st with a £20 voucher was number 51, Alan Bray and 2nd for the £15 voucher was 122 Tony Drummond. Vouchers are in the post.
Shay Lounge Player of the season saw Ryan Fieldhouse getting 1st place with 3 points, 2nd was Wayne Reittie with 2 points and 3rd was Anthony Thackeray with 1 point. Anthony also picked up the sponsors Man of the Match. Ryan now takes a early lead with 9 points with Anthony 2nd with 5 points followed by Craig Ashall on 4 points.
The Hitman award sponsored by Halifax RLFC Players Association went to Dave Manning for his overall game both in attack and defence. There was a clutch of ex players in attendance, including John Freeman, Ken Dean, Ken Roberts and Paul Moses who is now on the Keighley Players Association committee.
It was also good to see Sean Hesketh, Iain Morrison and Mark Goodman in the Shay Lounge after the match to give us their match analysis. Iain is targetting the Featherstone game at the beginning of May for his return from the latest injury.
The half time draw winning number was 3499 picking up £223.
