Fourth Final in Four Years : Mon Jul 09, 2012 9:23 am
Got to say this is no mean achievement many clubs would like to have that kind of record.
Hopefully it will be our second win in four Finals too, a 50% record, come on lads lets not be chokers we can do it just CONCENTRATE!

Yeah 3 finals in 4 years for us and 2 league wins, this damn NRC has eluded up until this season.

Possibly more to come for us both

Its been a great few years for both teams and really adds weight to the question "would super league be worth it"

I feel as super league teams the best both of us could hope for would be to build a team capable of staying in there and then maybe eventually getting the odd 6th place finish.

Super league is always going to be the Holy grail but would you swap it for these days out at finals and the enjoyment of having that winning feeling ??

Im sure most would, but I think the novelty would soon wear off if we became like cas, wakey or salford

I really don't fancy the SL dream anymore to be honest, if we could guarantee the intensity of this last couple of season's Championship league season/play-off's I'd be happy with the Status Quo.
OK, We've had a taste of the SL charade like many other traditional heartland clubs who for whatever reason have fallen from grace and we've also been at the glory end of the NRC finals & play off's unlike many clubs around us but I find watching SL games rather sterile & predictable in the patterns of play with & without the ball as opposed to the fayre on offer at our level.
I just wish there was more media exposure & more paying spectators turning out and I'd like to see more league fixtures than what we have, also matbe just a straight knockout instead of the league section of the NRC. I would also introduce the county cups for the teams below SL level early in the season to run almost alongside the NRC.

Better to big fish in a small pond I think in this case.
The rugby is more enjoyable to watch and and the old local rivalries have now been replaced with great clashes with Fev and Leigh.

As have said before SL is not the big success and wonderful dream many make out. Bradford, Crusaders, London and Wakeyx have all gone into administration in some form in the past 4 years. Rumours are rife all is not well at Salford and Castleford. Hull got out of jail when Pearson came in. Huddersfield are only there in SL thanks to oldman Davy but wen he pops his clogs then you can only see one direction they will go! So I dont think financially SL will be of that much benefit to Fax or Fev!
On the field do we really expect Fax or Fev to match it and get to finals? I very much doubt it. Whilst I can understand that many Fans may want Fax/Fev in SL I think for now at least both are best out of SL as they have far more to gain both on and off the pitch here in the Championship despite the disgraceful way the RFL treat us all.

Re: Fourth Final in Four Years : Fri Jul 20, 2012 2:06 am
I would have thought that more would have been made of the fact that it is 4 finals in 4 years.

As for super league, if it carries on with clubs struggling to keep their finances in order, super league may end up joining the championship. The top championship teams could end up being the stronger teams with the odd exception, like Leeds. Can the championship clubs vote A) not to join super league and B) not to let a team into the championship from super league?
The championship gets better every year, we have more nail biting score lines there for making it better entertainment to the neutral spectator. At some point the TV companies will realise it is more viable and will attract better viewing figures than super league.

Yes I know, at the moment super league has more viewers. Championship rugby is not promoted as well as super league. The broadcaster is in fewer holms, and it is on at the wrong time and day. Put it on terrestrial TV on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday evening and see what happens.

As mentioned above would be nice to see my team compete in SL but im sure the novelty would soon wear off

promoting the competition is the biggest problem at the moment with the champonship, and its a shame because I think they have a better product than super league. I can honestly say i haven't watched a full super league game since Rooney was playing for Wakefield. It bores the hell out of me.

I wish a terrestrial channel would at least take up a highlights package and have the bollox to show it at a reasonable time.

Even if they dont promote of us to SL for 2013 I think demoting Bradford to the championship would actually raise the profile of the competition a bit and again reducing the number of teams again for 2015 would add another high profile team to the championship ad enhance the comp further.

Wonder how the RFL would take it of no championship team applied for a license and said were happy in the real SL

And Behold, a pale horse. And on his back his name was death.
