I don't think overturning a decision would make a ref's decision look foolish. It happens in cricket and sometimes even the reversal is wrong.
Yesterday one of the South Africans was given out caught behind of his glove. The appeal gave him out, however it should not have done as his hand was not on the bat at the time.
Whilst I accept this is a radical suggestion, but why not just accept the ref's decision.
