Hunslet today. : Mon Apr 06, 2015 5:21 pm
Well, that was certainly a got out of jail job today. Whilst I don't think we deserved to lose, I couldn't have complained if we had. Answers to the problems are...Move Murrell to 13, Salty back on't wing in place of Brown. Bring Martin back from Gloucestershire to fullback and then we need another halfback (not DR). Again at 20v12 up why didn't we go for a point? Instead of going in at half time 21v12 up it was 20v18. Anyway a wins a win and hopr injuries don't start to catch up with us. Percy's, Hawkshead Jester 3.7 % Mmm!

Pete you have 3 threads on the same subject that Hawkshead Jester must be stronger than you think   , I honestly thought you would make short change of the Hawks  but as you say a wins a win , we have softened up Worky for you on Sunday , but after today in not going to predict the Fax result,I will leave it to the Experts  .

Why would anyone take a point at 20 V 12? It makes no sense at all.

A good win given the circumstances and a great effort by the players after playing Bradfrord on Friday. The backs did a great job helping the forwards out but even though they were tired just another team failing to get on top of our pack. I thought Brown had a good game today which was obviously needed given the last couple of games. Salty will be the best full back in the league come the end of the season, its obvious he is a class act and as a Fax fan Im delighted he turned down Bradford and Leigh because Im sure once he got in their teams he would stay in.

We did what we needed to do and roll on to next week.

Always thought this would be a banana skin fixture, and so it proved to be. Two consecutive games against full time sides and then a third game with 2 days turnaround, with a small squad. Credit to Hunslet -they really had a go. (Though I've still got headache from listening to 80 mins of non stop moronic songs from their spectators.) Good to see us pull it off in the last 10 mins. That wouldn't have happened last year. We looked to have a few walking wounded out there and lost a complete interchange with Fairbank going off.
Does anybody know if Johnstone was dropped then? Also has Tommy Saxton left the club as I can't believe he wouldn't have been in today after last Friday's performance of Alex Brown?
Looks like we are going to be 5th tonight as at the time of writing Fev are losing 28 nil at home to the Seagulls.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I didn't hear anyone around me asking for a drop goal.
Saltenstall, perfect at full back, wasted on the wing, Brown improved today and Saxton must soon be ready.
No Fairbank for a few weeks I should think, Tyrer? Robbo, iced up on the wrist? Ben Johnston?
Small squad we can't afford any more injuries.
Best player on the pitch? Simon Brown. In my humble opinion, we definitely need a couple of half backs.
Hudd Shay delete the other two threads you have started and try drinking a little less.

LTD, Saxton was at the Shay this afternoon I understand he is still injured.
Johnston, concussed last week, again I understand.
Come and sit with us in the East Stand, and be surrounded by "get em on side" every time we have the ball or "forward" every time we haven't

Blimey I thought we were going to lose that one today as we were not breaking through and looked tired at 3/4 time whilst Hunslet were up for it but give the lads credit they dug out a win, not an enjoyable game as we really could not afford to lose it so PHEW!
The annoying thing is we should have been out of sight first half but threw silly passes out when we had 2 overlaps and yet again gave away some silly penalties, Manning was the culprit calm it down Manno.
Injuries took their toll today we missed Johnston and copped for a few m ore, we do need to bring in some new faces now.
Well done to their fans for singing most of the game but they are very football fan types goading the opponents fans, just stick to shouting for your own team las and lasses.
Not as big a game for us so I can forgive the quietness but that was too quiet today come on guys make some noise!

Thanks HJ. Glad that Johnstone and Saxton will be available at some point. We need them! I understand we also have Sherriffe on a 72 hour call back from Keighley and I guess young Martin the fullback could be worth another look at? If not then could the dreaded DR plan B have to be considered a real option? Fev 4-Sheff 33 FT. 5th it is then after the Easter period.

Agreed re Brown, his face just didn't fit with us, but his game was solid today, he marshalled them very well round the park.
