Isn't the overstewarding something to do with the ground being a Cat B stadium.
ie. Calderdale Council can host international or prestige games in either code
By putting a bid in for the Tonga v Italy & the Leigh v Sheffield game, I assume CC had to prove to various governing bodies their ground was suitable to host these events.
Surely now, the council must downgrade it's stadium rating and review the safety certificate accordingly to benefit both clubs playing semi-pro sport at the Shay, but forfeiting any chance of staging a big game (not that any fan gives a flying proverbial).
If a crumbling ground like Belle Vue with few stewards can operate with few stewards in Super League, then so should Halifax's.
If the council won't budge, shut the South Stand. Simples.
As Bradford council own both Odsal and Horsfall stadium, I think if Halifax were to move, they'd use both venues according to availability/pitch wear
