Regardless of political opinion, I've always thought that the top positions in parliament are poorly paid given the grief they get, plus the enormous stress and 24x7 call on their time. Albeit there are "fringe" benefits to be had. It could be argued that regular MP's don't do too badly.
We may not like or agree with what Nigel Wood and his Red Hall team do, but it's a reasonably high-profile job, and not without its stresses or problems. However, they've not exactly had overwhelming success progressing the game, and a £314k salary is just plain bonkers.
