Things have been very good for Durham since Moxon let though. I thought it was a good move bringing him back, but not so sure now.
Moxon has been in charge throughout a period in which a overseas bowler with a serious shoulder injury was given a two year contract. Yorkshire have not won a County Championship match for over 12 months and if, as seems more than likely, they don't win another game this season, it will be the first time in the club's history that it has failed to win a single championship match in a season (even in the dark days of 1983 when they finished bottom they still managed one win).
By any yardstick that record is totally unaccetable and what is particularly galling is that Regan, Moxon and McGrath seem happy to let things drift along without taking any obvious measures to rectify the situation. These issues shouls be addressed without delay:-
1 The opening batsmen. Rudolph is wasted here beng exposed to the new ball and is far better batting at no 4.
2 The captaincy. No leadership, little motivation, poor field placement and woeful tactical decisions. Also McGrath's own form appears to be suffering badly from the pressure of his job as captain.
3 The bowling attack. Weak last season and nothing done to strengthen this year. Money wasted on the worst overseas player in living memory and rumours of discontent (Hoggard and Shahzad's mooted transfer to Worcestershire).
Yorkshire have enough decent players not to be fighting a relegation battle.
If we do go down, and I really think we will from the rubbish I have watched this season, heads should roll starting at the top.
