Think people are absolutely deluded if they think Watkins wouldn't improve our team.
Newman has potential but runs sideways more than forward.
Hurrell does some good things offensively, but also undoes all that but loosing the ball too often. He's also unfit IMHO. Injuries will happen every few games....

Id have taken KW back Newman is going to be a great Centre imo but id have moved Hurrell into the pack as an i.pact sub & would have put Watkins back in at centre.

I'm glad watkins isnt coming back to push out newman who I'm sure will develop into a better player than Watkins was at his peak.

Considering the titles Kallum Watkins won and that for a period of probably 4 years he was considered one of the best centres in the world until injuries took their toll and he lost a yard of pace this is some statement. While there is undoubted potential in Newman he is a long way from the finished article and nowwhere near Watkins at his peak currently.. Its important to recognise that when Watkins broke through it was into a much stronger settled team so easier to make their mark however let's not be disrespectful to his achievements with Leeds and also over hype current players lumbering them with overblown expectations. Newman has the potential to become a great player but needs to consistently influence games and significantly improve his defensive positioning and tackling,an area inciidently that watkins was always strong even post injuries.

I think Seth makes a valid point tbf.

Its going to take some mighty hard work to replicate the successes in the last decade that we have enjoyed but Newman has the ability and potential to be a standout centre for us for years and hopefully contribute to future success.

My only caveat is the coaching he will receive going to be up to par?

If Watkins had Newman's self-belief he would be well on his way to being a one of the greats of the game. He's the most gifted centre the country produced since the days of Senior and Newlove IMO.
I like Newman, he has great feet, and a tremendous attitude, but he seems to have similar limitations to what Hardaker has at centre. His natural instinct is to cut inside, so he doesn't create much for his winger, but hopefully that will come.

Coaching / Conditioning is the only playing related role that isn't Salary Capped, so we should be having the best possible set up in this area to ensure that all our players perform to their potential as regularly as possible.

I cant see Leeds springing for him TBH, if we were going after anyone from Wakey I'd be throwing money at Johnson not Fiffita.
