I’d be a bit surprised if he went mid season, it would need someone to shift something from their cap (injury or retirement, etc.) and it might not be at a club he fancies (Titans for example).
I’d be surprised if we don’t get a full season from him.
This is great news about Merrin. He will almost definitely stay the full year and while there is obviously a money aspect to this the fact that him coming back to Leeds it not seen as hugely negative means he should be fairly happy to be back.
Leeds have also come out of this looking well as they did the right thing by Merrin.
Now it’s confirmed Mez is staying, I don’t see the point in resigning Ferres, even on buttons for a year? We should be putting that money into a hooker or prop instead.
I think it's been pretty clear for a while Ferres will be retained- coaches must see something fans don't. When he's been fit, he's played. On top of that, he's deputised as skipper a few times. Granted nothing official yet but I'd be very surprised if he wasn't retained.
