And have no permanent coach! Grrrr... i do agree though it would be incompetence of the highest order to let Watkins go without bringing someone in this season

I agree with Gotcha here, you’re equating us letting Watkins go early as a deliberate thing so we can sign someone else, maybe we are just doing the right thing by Watkins seeing as though we terminated his contract, the move to the Gold Coast may have been out of the blue that they wanted him early rather than from next year and we would have had to be pretty terrible to not grant him an early release in this situation.
Its OK saying we need to sign someone but it’s really not as simple as having the cash or salary cap space is it, the players have got to want to move mid season and their clubs letting them!

The mismanagement is not not being able to get a mid season signing its having is being in this situation in the first place

I agree Christopher but for me we are in grave danger of going down and we have just weakened the team through our own choice. Yes we need to treat Kal right but the club is bigger than any player and the club is in danger. Weakening the team at this critical stage would be suicidal

everyone else around us is strengthening. but it's ok we'll do it next year.

The club came out and said they agreed with Watkins he could go early if the right offer came in. There was no suggestion this was a deliberate ploy to allow us to bring in another player.

However, having known there was a chance a high earner would be leaving mid season I would like the think the club were sounding out potential signings who could make a difference this year and beyond. If not then that is incompetence of the highest order.

In terms of weakening the team by letting Watkins go, no offence to Watkins, but he has offered very little all season so honestly, he's not a massive miss.

Whether it was planned or not, letting one of our most experienced players go in our current situation without using it as an opportunity to strengthen where we suck would be a mind-boggling combination of complacency and incompetence.

I understand the whole planning for next year view, but that will mean nought if we end up being relegated. Right now based on where ourselves, London and KR are at and the fact that our shortcomings are so basic and fundamental to winning games, I'd say we ought to be favourites for the drop out of the 3 of us.
