If Merrin does go back it needs to be decided now.We do not want this dragging on.Hopefully this will not happen but if it does can we ask for a fee?

Here we go with the Merrin rumours again, i said when all the rumours mid season where going, these rumours will persist untill he either runs out his contract or does go back to Aus early.

I’l just ignore any rumours and would suggest everyone does the same until there is actually any basis in reality.

At the end of the day NRL clubs can offer more money than Leeds could / would want to.

We are well stocked in the back row and Merrin isn’t an out and out middle. He is quality but I wouldn’t be gutted if he left, as long as we recruit the right player to replace him (in a position we really need).

The way Merrin plays I actually think he’d do better with better quality around him - he’s more of a glue player and we need strike IMO.

I’d invest a Marquee in some real heavy artillery or maybe even a high quality right wing, if Gale is done.

I hate Aussie journalists and reporters, they are worst of any sport by a country mile. According to them he wasn’t even coming, then signed, then it was a done deal him going to St George. I don’t think he will, but if he does we should not waste the chance to sign a mega star as he is our Captain and has been great for us. Merrin is on mega money and I can’t see NRL clubs stumping up that.

Merrin is an important player for Leeds but I wouldnt say hes been amazing last year. I expect him to be much improved next year and one of the best players in the comp. However I do believe he is replaceable.

This. If he wants to leave let him let him go now whilst there would be a chance to replace him with someone of marquee level. We have seen what happens when we dig in to keep a player that wants out in the past. Not saying this is the case but hopefully the club are seeking an assurance one way or the other right now.

Also if Merrin is going to go, we definitely should command a big transfer fee as he is contracted for 3 more years.
