I'd have been interested to see what the response on this board would have been if it had been Flanagan accused and McManus spouting off in the press. Baying for blood, no doubt.
What Hetherington said brought into question the impartiality and honesty of the RFL. He deserved to be punished for it, and frankly £1,000 is a derisory sum. It brings to an end a pretty awful few weeks for the CEO in the press, where he's increasingly taken on the demeanour of a man deluded by his own perceived success.
