It's all gone a bit quiet : Sun Nov 03, 2024 3:55 pm
Apart from the departure of another player! I see the crowd funding has stalled a tad under £10k although the donation period has been extended. I suspect that & memberships now might be reliant on positive news of new owners & players joining. Sadly there isn't much time to sort either out unfortunately.

At least there's some new merchandise to ponder buying. The Tee with the old badge & no St Doodaa on it is a step forward. I'm sure Benny is crying into his beer at the lack of a woolly hat though.

Damn straight I am. And why does that T-shirt have our old badge?

And for the rest of the stuff: it's not "Rugby"; it's "Rugby League".

And £30 for the other (all the merchandise is obviously so badly designed, you can see it's not actually been designed) T-shirt with the newer badge. Then £22 for an equally bad baseball cap? I could be in the Gold Lounge all season for that!

To be fair It’s a bit all over the shop. However I think I’m right in saying they haven’t announced the ‘new season’ range yet so I’m assuming this is a work in progress. If not, it’s certainly an unusual merchandise list.

As for the T-shirt I’m keener on the new logo than the old one but understand that I might be in the minority. Perhaps we are going back to the old logo. If not, it’s a really odd choice. Mixing up brand images is a big no no. Keep it simple, be consistent.
Anyway, probably the least of our worries and I’m sure I’ll buy something once every thing is clearer.

Yes I think a few may be holding onto their hard earned until they are more confident it’s not going straight down the Swanee. Ditto the crowdfunder. It’s not making things easier but it’s perfectly understandable. We must be getting pretty close to the wire now.
They are doing their best. It’s a big ask. We’ll just have to wait and see. I don’t know if things would have been easier if there had been a more typical handover period but I can’t help but feel they would have been.

I didn’t know the new lines had been released. Perhaps I’ve missed an email.

I agree it does all look a bit of a mess. I don’t hate the old badge T-shirt, in fact I think it could be a good idea if done properly (this is rugby league so I won’t hold my breath). Now, I know David Hughes was a divisive figure and as a result of his actions, fans were lost and shed with every move. Now he’s gone, it could be a good time to re-engage with some lost fans and to try and entice them back and nostalgia is always a good way to go. A well done retro range, specifically aimed around certain periods like the 1996-1999 period could be a good seller. T-shirts incorporating the old badge or with old players, old quotes, old games (cup semi 99, Canberra etc) could be done and could be marketed well.

There are 2 reasons it has gone quiet at the Regus office in Richmond.

1. Loubser is in negotiations with a US Billionaire and as part if this, radio silence will be a precondition before we are relaunched as the London Lakers......or
2. Loubser is finding life without Dave paying his wages, a tad more realistic than he would like.

Fixtures are out in a few weeks. If London aren't in a position to garentee FULL participation in the season ahead, then i doubt anything other than the introduction of a "bye" weekend in the championship for 2025 being removed due to the even number of sides will be the big news scoop over at League Depressed.
