Sad indeed

It is not good news, but surly the RFL should step in and buy it, turn it into the HQ of the RFL, This building cannot be lost, in Huddersfield we have lost to much of our tradition, look at the state of the old Fartown ground.

....there was me thinking this was about Castleford having their cables knicked....

Its a listed building. It won't be lost.

Nice idea, not sure propping the bulls up last season or the genius of the stobart deal swelled the RFL coffers that much

The sponsorship deal money would've gone to SL Europe Ltd, rather than the RFL itself...

Cant throw good money after bad unfortunately. If two "experts" cant get the place running then im afraid its a bit of a doomed enterprise. As wheels has said its a listed building so wont be going anywhere.

Same difference really.

So why not buy it and turn it in to the much promised Rugby League Museum / Hall Of Fame ?

Just been talking to my neighbour who works for the league express and this has been a topic of conversation for a while, Martin Sadler is massivley in favour. why can't the powers that be get their heads together and sort this out, they were more then happy to aid the bulls last year so why not this. Everyone who is connected to the game knows that redhall has served it's purpose and is now not big or grand enough to be the HQ of our beloved game. Get it sorted RFL

my thoughts exactly, the RFL save a hole of a ground at Bradford and just let this historic build shut down showing no interest

Its another pub that didn't move with the times and no-one with any alcohol or hospitality retail sense wants to touch it with a bargepole now - that should tell you how viable it is, a half a dozen people wandering through its doors to visit a "Museum of RL" each day won't support it, especially when you start to ask RL people to pay for the privilege of visiting Mike Stevensons old boots and photos.



Apartments is its future although you'd hate to be the one who owned the apartment where the 1895 agreement was signed when half a dozen bobble-hatted anoraks knock on the door each day with a "Can we just come in for a minute ?"

But the RFL wouldn't need it for alcohol,hospitality or retail it would be the new HQ. it's worth it just to keep the museum underneath. can't imagine it would be much more than red hall to run and it's got better commuting links too (not stuck in the middle of nowhere)

It depends whats best for the RFL. Stick at Red Hall on a relatively cheap lease or fork out for the George & move everyone there.

Maybe as a corporate event or poss the ref's having a get together to decide how much they can destroy the following weeks rugby. what i meant was it wouldn't be required as a hotel by the RFL.

They have the money so why not ????

Do they chuck money at that or Salford ? I hated my away trips to the willows but there needs to be a parity.... Silly me its the RFL ....
