Could be something in that and would make sense in why they are waiting

Is Leeds an appealing proposition? I honestly don't know. I know we are a big club in many ways but the work needed to get us up the league should not be underestimated. I would also think an Aussie coach would think twice given the Furner situation.

As for the comment about Watson and Marshall working wonders on a budget. The Leeds job is not a budget job and requires different skills. They may have those skills but you really can't compare what they have achieved with the resources they have had and what is required at Leeds.

I know this all sounds very Debbie Downer but it just shows how difficult a job the club have to get this right and therefore why it is taking time.

Of course its an appealing proposition... the stadium, the facilities, spending power, the crowds, a quality academy, the history, the sheer size of the club, the famous name.. what more could a coach want. No where is perfect but to even suggest it's possibly not an appealing job is rather daft.

I didn't say it wasn't, I said I didn't know as I've no idea what a top grade coach considers appealing.

In terms of what more could a coach want;
A playing roster that gives a sh#t
Some level of depth
A management team that not only talks about patience but shows it.
A clear level of control which I'm not sure our current structure gives.

Some coaches are great at rebuilding and relish that, others don't. There is an awful lot in the mix here and just saying we are an appealing proposition won't be enough to win anyone over.

Of course its an appealing position, as alluded to, we have probably the best resources in the country, financially stable, history etc, yes we are in a hole but that is what could be appealing to any coach with ambition, we have everything there at the moment apart from the team and the coach, I would imagine the thiught of being the coach to turn it around would be massively appealing

I’ve never given much weight to this rumour and still don’t but, it might not be a bad move for Powell, Cas seem to be on a bit of a downward trend and he may have taken them as far as he can?

Were at the bottom of a downward trend and need someone to take us back on an upward trend, the Leeds job will be a very attractive position for a lot of coaches.

He comes across as a bit of a misery guts sometimes and I don’t like how he deals with the press but I couldn’t give a monkeys if he can get us olaying like cas were a few seasons ago, I’m not fussed about winning anything in the near future either.

Let’s hope we really are at the bottom of our downward trend!!

Really hope theres somthing in these Powell rumours. As for the job itself, its an unbelievable oppurtunity for a coach, as already alluded to, just about everything is as good a it gets in British rugby league...Stadium, finances, facilitys, Academy, history, fanbase, the only thing that isnt top draw is the actual first team and if it was, the job wouldnt be available to start with. Any coach that wouldnt back himself to succeed here, i wouldnt want anyways. Really dont get this poisoned chalice notion the media are spinning, its a brilliant oppurtunity for a coach.

We have everything but the team and the coach???

So we have nothing really then.

The ground, the finances, the history all mean very little without the team and the coach. You're talking as a fan and not trying to see this through a potential coaches eyes.

If you are out of a job of course you would jump at this opportunity if you are UK based but do you really want someone currently not employed as you have to ask why they aren't - I see why it would appeal to them. If you are employed and at a level lower than us why do you think you can do the job - I see why it would appeal to them. If you are doing well at a club high up would you leave to catch our potential hospital pass? I'm not sure you would.

One coach who is out of a job and could do the job is Tony Smith.
Also I think Simon Woolford is doing a fine job at Hudds

Smith is an interesting one. They say 'never look back' for a reason. I'm.not sure I see him coming back.

I agree woolford has done a good job at Hudds. If they could avoid there perennial bad start they could be a force in the playoffs.
