Joined with a fair bit of hype about him but never really lived up to it then got injured & never looked like breaking through. Good luck to him.

Good good player. Injuries ruined his Leeds career. Real shame.

Isnt it time we pulled out of this reserve team nonsense? We clearly dont want it, have no budget for it and its going to be a total waste of time. If Catalans and Toronto arent having one it cant be a requirement.

As it’s been explained, Leeds are going the other way with it, loans and DR are more important to Leeds. Leeds are using amateur RL, Uni RL and fringe Featherstone players as well as their own fringe players to fill the reserve grade.

Im aware of that i was the one explained it last season. Pointless. Its clear we didnt want a reserve comp we clearly dont want one, we should grow some balls and say were not participating. Its not a requirement of Super League as both Catalana and Toronto dont have one and Salford didnt run an academy last yr. Amateur players and Uni players i mean come on, its ridiculous.

Either do it properly or dont bother.

Can't argue Marty. Regardless of whether reserve grade as a whole has merit we're wasting everyone's time, including our own, by fielding a side in this manner.

Its a plus for the fringe players who haven't gone out on loan.

Personally I think DR has ruined that side of the sport.

Having a string reserve grade comp would be more useful for SL clubs. Also not having DR would mean lower league players get more chance of playing and progressing.

All hypothetical of course but it's clear there are not enough quality players around to support the reserve and DR approaches together.

Alternatively you act on your last point, and stop spitting the dummy out, and embrace it to make it work, like the rest of the game feel it will work. Players themselves have been quite scathing of DR in the past, so there must be something wrong.

Catalans and Toronto are completely irrelevent to this, as you can hardly be flying around the world for it.

aren't Catalans and Toronto also both still guest members of Rugby League, hence why their allowed to drop out of challenge cup?. IIRC the requirement to field a reserve team is tied to the central academy funding. Clubs running a first tier academy are required to field a reserve team as a condition of receiving the funding, which is I believe around 100k a year. If you dont participate in reserves then you would forfeit that 100k.
